Bleeding images, usually Adobe Photoshop files, print off the edge of a file. To ensure a proper final trim, a ¼-inch bleed all around is required.

Also, make sure you place your image at the proper size. If you have a 3x5 postcard with a bleed, your file needs to be 3x5, your image needs to be 3½x5½ and the image is not set larger than 100% of the original size. If you force an image larger than 100%, your image becomes bitmapped or unclear.
