How many colors do I want?
Although your company logo looks like it is only black and red, it may print with up to four colors! The reason is commercial printing works with CMYK and Spot colors.
-
CMYK: This stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. These four colors combine to make almost any color. When you use any combination of these four colors, we print your project as four color process. Pictures always print in CMYK. Any artwork/images from a photo editing program, like Adobe Photoshop, will print in CMYK.
-
Spot: This refers to Pantone colors, which print as one color. These colors are ideal for logos, which cut costs when printing items like envelopes and letterhead. Artwork from a program like Adobe Illustrator preserves spot color.
-
RGB: This stands for Red, Green, Blue. This is not an accepted file for commercial printing although RGB is standard for desktop printing. We can convert most RGB to CMYK colors, for a nominal fee.
Your monitor colors, which are RGB, will appear different than the printed piece. If you calibrate your monitor, this allows you to view the colors more accurately.
